Bob Kuykendall

was the first full-time executive director of the Fort Smith Boys Club. Kuykendall served in the Club’s top post for 17 years.  He initiated many of the Club programs and activities.

The Boys Club rapidly grew under Kuykendall’s guidance.  In 1941, he helped build the Wheeler Boys Club.  “Kirk” also served on a committee to construct Hunts Park in 1947.

Considered to be a true pioneer in the Boys & Girls Club movement, Kuykendall’s leadership laid the foundation for the organization’s growth and development.  He was employed by the Club from 1928-1945.

Kuykendall died on January 31, 1992 at the age of 85, less than one month after being inducted into the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame.
